Biography: Barton was raised in New York City, and her
first film was in "Slavs" (1994-1995) which she played
opposite of Marisa Tomei. She moved into Broadway stints in "Twelve
Dreams" (1995) and "Where the Truth Lies" (1996). From
her Broadway roles, Barton found a place on day time soap opera
"All My Children" (1994).
Barton finally found more acclaimed successes in "Notting
Hill" (1999" and "The Sixth Sense" (1999). But none
of these have propelled Barton to popularity as Fox's evening drama
"The O.C." (2003-present) as Marissa Cooper, the lead.
