Biography: Aaliyah Dana Haughton was a rising R&B singer who
got her first television debut on a talent search TV show, but she
lost. She later performed as part of Gladys Knight's revue, and
her manager (her uncle) introduced her to upcoming star R. Kelly, who
lent his own talents to help her further her career. She released her
first album Age Ain't Nothin' But A Number in 1994, which
included such singles as "Back and Forth" and "At Your
Best". She followed this debut with One In A Million
in 1996 and found success in "If Your Girl Only Knew" and
title track "One In A Million". After these accomplishments,
Aaliyah started to formulate her acting career by starring in Romeo
Must Die (2001). She was also set to star in vampire flick Queen
of the Damned. She did release another album entitled Aaliyah
with such favorites as "Try Again", "Rock the Boat",
and "We Need A Resolution". It was during filming for
"Rock the Boat" music video that Aaliyah's death
occurred. The plane they took crashed, and Aaliyah was on board at
the time.
